Day 24, August 1.

Today I took tests in both classes. After classes I went to St. Paul’s Cathedral and was told at 4:10 that I could not go up in Dome because it was after 4. I was also told it was 14pounds so I don’t think I will go back on Thursday during Fitness class trip like I had originally planned. Walked around the Thames and came across Tate Modern Museum and went in there and as I was entering it also closed.  So I simply walked the banks of the Thames and tried to enjoy my last few days in London. I watched people and had a beer at an Pub that opened in the 1600’s next to Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. We were offered bonus work in Geography class and I missed handing in an assignment in fitness class because I did not follow up with the syllabus.  I am really mad at myself for that one.

Day 25, August 2.

I had an absolutely great day in Cardiff today. Seen the Castle and we toured the museum. We also went into the house on a guided tour and see the majesty of the design of the interior. I can believe what craftsmanship was involved in that place. Especially since the guy who designed it was high on Opium the entire time. After the castle the class cut out and I shopped in the malls and ate some dinner before boarding the train for King’s. I stopped by O2 Center and bought some cashews from the nuts stand and some halls and milk form grocery.

Day 26, August 3.

Today I went to Geography Class and received my test back. I got a better score than I expected. Glad I studied so hard because remembering the linage of the Monarchies and politics involved in each of them was pretty difficult. The WWI and WWII stuff wasn’t as bad. After class I ate lunch in the refectory (baked fish) and got really ill because of it. I do not think it was the fish but the seasoning on it. It really got me. I did not go to fitness class because I was weak, clammy and was experiencing stomach issues.

We had to attend a departure orientation in Bay Hall. I learned about my coach time and number that will take me to Heathrow on Monday. After that I returned to my room and DID NOT eat dinner at the refectory. I have been reading and practicing my fitness presentation because it is a timed event. After hours in my room when the sun went down I decided to walk down to a restaurant and eat a little soup. Returned to dorm and got ready for my last Fitness field trip tomorrow. Time in London is just about at its end.

Day 27. August 4.

Today my fitness class took our last field trip. It was to the V&A Museum and I was so glad that Dr. Lewis had taken us here. I would have really missed out on this London treasure if we had not had to go as a class assignment. We concentrated on the Art and Theatre sections but after we were dismissed I took time to tour a majority of the rest of the V&A. The jewelry, silver, painting and so much other British heritage was fascinating. The way these people in upper and royal societies live is so impressive it is hard to comprehend at time.

After I departed the V&A I traveled to the Tate Britain Museum as part of an extra credit assignment for my Geography class. Art work and sculptures that cover centuries of passion and the need to tell through artwork impressed me. Just like the V&A I was so thankful that Professor Miller assigned this extra credit project because this museum would not have been a location I would have chosen to visit on my own and I would have missed so much by not seeing these great and moving works. In the evening I worked on homework and studied and prepared for my Finals tomorrow.  Tomorrow, Michael a friend from Geography class and I plan to travel to the battle grounds in both Battle and Hasting England. We will visit the famous location of the Normandy Invasion of 1066 by William the Conqueror against the Anglo-Saxons which we covered very closely in class. Sunday I am going to take my camera and return to the V&A and take pictures of all the art, gems, and silver I seen yesterday. Then in the evening I will pack and prepare for leaving on the coach at 7am Monday for Heathrow airport. London is in the rear view mirror. I loved everything except dorm live.
